In the Regulatory Overview session on Thursday 24 November, next to Englebienne four speakers will give an overview of current regulations, industry initiatives and best practices related to sustainability. They will show how these affect the label industry and what to expect in the near future. By doing so, they will help FINAT members find a path through the regulatory jungle.

The European Green Deal

In the last few years, a whirlwind of policy and regulatory announcements impacted the packaging industry at all levels. The European Green Deal, under which the update of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive falls, puts additional pressure to increase the sustainability of the complete value chain by optimising the use of resources, reducing waste and avoiding hazardous substances. On top of this, national measures in the form of substance bans, restrictions on plastics and additional fiscal requirements make the situation even more complex.

More information on the technical seminar can be found on the FINAT website.

Pablo Englebienne started working for Lejeune Association management in March 2020. As a Regulatory Affairs & Sustainability Manager he advises associations and their members on regulatory requirements to remain compliant and anticipate future challenges by monitoring upcoming policy changes. He also focuses on sustainability issues, ensuring that associations in the broadest sense contribute to the goals of the EU Green Deal and other initiatives.
