From Labelexpo to LOUPE: the power of connection endures

‘In today’s climate, the value of trade fairs and industry associations becomes clear. They are not dividing lines, but bridges’

After an impressive edition of Labelexpo Europe, it is time for reflection. This year’s exhibition hosted more exhibitors than ever before, with nearly 20% growth to over 43,000 m² of floor space compared to 2023, and welcomed a record number of 37,000 visitors. Yet it’s not just about the numbers. Behind the stands and networking moments lies a broader movement: the transition from Labelexpo to its new brand identity, LOUPE. What remains is the unifying strength of the international label community.

In Barcelona, where the event took place this year for the first time after four decades in Brussels, FINAT, the association for the European label industry, and the exhibition organiser Informa Markets celebrated the 35th anniversary of their Labelexpo Europe partnership.

Looking back at Labelexpo Europe

The closing day of the exhibition offered a familiar scene: exhibitors dismantling their stands, champagne bottles being opened, and visitors finalising their last appointments. Yet behind this visible ending there was a sense of nostalgia. For many in the sector, this was a special edition: the last time Labelexpo would take place in this format.

According to preliminary figures, this edition brought together more companies and professionals than ever before. More than 150 new exhibitors joined the network, making it clear that the label and packaging industry continues to grow and innovate.

A changing world

The context in which this event took place is very different from its early years. Whereas the 1990s and 2000s were marked by open borders, free trade and increasing digital connectivity, today we are faced with geopolitical tensions, trade conflicts and digital disruptions.

It is precisely in such a climate that the value of trade fairs and industry associations becomes evident. They are not dividing lines, but bridges. By bringing together people, knowledge and ideas, they provide a foundation for dialogue and collaboration.

‘The only way forward is constructive dialogue and cooperation aimed at a shared future.’

The strength of the label community
Anyone who attended Labelexpo once again experienced what characterises the label community: a strong sense of community, a constant drive for innovation, deeply rooted knowledge-sharing and a joint commitment to sustainability.

These values form the basis for the next step: the launch of LOUPE. Although the name is changing, the essence of the community remains intact. LOUPE stands for sharpness, focus, and the power to look forward together.

Thanks and recognition

The 2025 edition was not only a success because of the numbers, but above all thanks to the dedication of many contributors. A special word of thanks goes to Jade Grace and the team at Informa Markets, who delivered a successful exhibition despite the challenges.

There was also intensive collaboration within FINAT. Volunteers staffed the stand, partners such as CELAB Europe demonstrated how sustainability takes shape in practice, and our team at Lejeune Association Management provided coordination and support.

Looking ahead: LOUPE and the next gatherings

With the introduction of LOUPE, a new era begins for the label industry. The FINAT community, however, will not have to wait long for its next get-together. In November, the Printer to Printer Seminar (P2P 2025) will follow in Milan.

The next Europe show will return from 5 - 8 October 2027 as LOUPE Europe 2027.

Both gatherings align with the central message of this transition: coming together, learning, and working towards a sustainable and innovative future for the sector.

While Labelexpo may disappear in its familiar form, the community that made it thrive lives on. With LOUPE as the new brand, the international label industry remains sharp and connected.
