Meet management assistant Piroska van der Ham – De Vos

Who is Piroska?

“I am Piroska, 33 years old. I originally come from Goeree-Overflakkee (born in Dirksland), but I have lived in Voorburg since I was nineteen.
You do not hear my name very often – and if you do, it is usually pronounced with -shka. My mother once had a school friend with this name and always said: ‘If I ever have a daughter, I will name her Piroska.’ And so she did.

I have been with my partner for 14 years, married for 10, and I am a proud mother of two daughters aged 8 and 12. We are right in the middle of the pre-teen and teenage phase, so it is never boring at home!”

Education and career

“It was only after becoming a mother that I realised how important it is to seize opportunities and set a good example. That motivated me to pursue an education.
I chose the vocational secretary course (BBL) through Scheidegger and started working at a law firm straight away. That is where I earned my diploma and discovered how much energy I get from organising, supporting and working precisely.

I have now worked for more than 11 years as a secretary and administrative assistant. I gained experience in the legal sector at a law firm and later at an energy consultancy, where I learned a great deal about sustainability and suppliers. The best thing about this profession? You never stop learning – and I love that.”

How did you join Lejeune Association Management?

“I was approached via LinkedIn by a recruiter from Impressive Green Apple. The variety of tasks and the flexibility appealed to me immediately. I did not yet know exactly what I would be doing, but I knew it would be dynamic. And that turned out to be true! No two days are the same, and I work with incredibly nice colleagues – that makes the work even more enjoyable.”

Which associations do you support?

“I currently work for MRF, VHT, FNOI and partly for EFTA. I support them with, among other things:

• Agenda management and member communication

• Preparing board and member meetings

• Taking minutes and processing documents

• Organising meetings and events

• Streamlining administrative processes

My goal is to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, so boards and members can focus on the content.”

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

“In my free time I love being outdoors. I enjoy walking, often during my daughters’ football training sessions, and on Saturdays you will find me enthusiastically on the sidelines as a football mum.

I enjoy playing games with my children or with friends. Hitster is the current favourite. And sometimes I simply love settling onto the sofa for a good series on Netflix or Videoland.”
