Astrid Lejeune celebrates 25 years as Secretary General of Afera, The European Adhesive Tape Association

In 1998, Afera, The European Adhesive Tape Association, made the pivotal decision to move from Paris to The Hague, following in the footsteps of its adhesive labels sister organisation, FINATlabels. It was a year later that Astrid Lejeune began her involvement in Afera's management, marking the beginning of a journey that would shape the association’s future. In 1999, Astrid took on the esteemed role of Secretary General, a position that she has held with distinction for 25 years.

Over the past quarter of a century, Afera has evolved into the leading community for the European tape industry, serving as the go-to network for industry and non-industry stakeholders alike. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, technical education, and creating an influential network across Europe and beyond, Astrid’s leadership has been an integral part of this remarkable transformation.

A highlight moment during the Afera 2024 Annual Conference in Thessaloniki was the surprise celebration of Astrid’s 25th anniversary of dedicated service to the industry. Afera President Evert Smit honoured Astrid with a heartfelt speech, presenting her with a certificate of recognition and a special gift: a contribution towards a work of art for her new home.

Astrid reflected, "Running this Association—watching the European tape industry progress and become organised and represented by its best minds and decision-makers with our support—has been so rewarding and fulfilling in my career. I am so grateful to have known and worked with some of you since starting at Afera, which feels like a family to me."
